Our family has been here at Pialligo for sixteen years. With two prior owners here for twenty years and over twenty five years respecitvely, Tara has been established over 60 years. We have a long history in the animal boarding business and provide the best in location, accomodation and care. We ensure quality care in boarding in a beautiful natural environment.
Pialligo is a historical part of Canberra oringinally market gardens, and orchards, several still here today. The apples are fresh off the trees. There is also a vineyard and restaurant on the river, and a variety of rural commercial boutique businesses. Tara is bounded on both sides by equestrian properties.
Tara is situated in the grounds of the old Alberts nursery with large old english deciduous trees and masses of helebores, roses and old fashioned perenials. The country lane atmosphere combined with 10 acres of land and all neighbours on acerage, is a wonderful space with a lovely natural environment for the animals. Great for the driver too because its easy to get to and close to the entry and exit to Canberra. If you like when you come you can buy organic apples, local wine and some plants for the garden. This really is shop local. There is a great restaurant at the vineyard and another directly across the road, and good cafes. Come and see for yourself we think you'll like it.
This great property, the generous accommodation and expert care gives a great start to the boarding experience. Our aim is for the animals boarding to be happy and relaxed and we take the boarders well being very seriously. We focus on their individual needs. We get to know them personally. Most of our customers are regulars and the feedback is clear - the dogs are happy to come and stay with us. They like it!
We have lots of boarding options for small, medium and large dogs each with designated play yards where they get to spend time, on their own or with others.
We welcome you to come with staff to house and settle your pet and to meet them in their room on pickup. We offer short, medium and long term boarding.
We think it is very important for you to see for yourself the animals in their boarding environment and their neighbours. We believe you need as much first hand information as possible to feel confident leaving them to board.
We offer roomy, comfortable accommodation with heating for winter and large deciduous trees for shade in summer.
Kerry’s own history has been in the health system – first as a registered nurse, then at the University of NSW as a researcher in the School of Health and then prior to Tara as a senior officer in the Commonwealth Department of Health for many years.
This background is a very relevant because there is a long standing interest and understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of groups and individuals – completely relevant to the pets that stay with us.
Tara has staff of good character who love animals and are kind and thoughtful to the pets in their care. They have a wide range of qualifications and experience and do a great job looking after our boarding guests.
